How it works
From "I'm driving anyway" to "we split it."
tag. is a two-sided board: drivers post trips they were already taking, riders post the rides they need, and a matching engine introduces the two. Here is the whole flow, both sides.
If you're driving
Post the trip you were making anyway.
Add your car, once
Year, make, and model. tag. looks up the exact EPA fuel economy for your car, because the split is based on what the drive really costs, not a guess.
Post the trip
Where you're leaving from, where you're headed, when, and how many seats you have. Thirty seconds, and it's live on the feed.
Seats fill
Riders tag along from the feed, and tag. also matches your trip against open ride requests. When a match asks to join, you approve or decline.
Your gas gets covered
Every rider chips in a share of the real cost. You don't earn anything, and that's the point: it keeps tag. simple, legal, and friendly.

Open trips from verified students, with the route, the departure time, the car, and your exact share of the cost on every card.
Or post a request
No trip fits? Post where you need to go and a rough window, like "Friday afternoon." Drivers going your way will see it, and the matching engine keeps watching for new trips.
See the split, then tag along
Before you commit you see the full breakdown: your share of gas, the flat $1.50 fee, and how much lower it goes if the remaining seats fill.
Ride, then rate
Message the car in the app, meet at the pickup point, and rate each other afterward. Ratings keep the network worth trusting.
The matching engine
Introductions, not bookings.
When a trip and a request line up, tag. suggests the pair to both sides. The rider asks to join, the driver approves, and only then is the seat taken. Nobody gets auto-committed to a car.
A match means all three line up
- ✓ The trip starts near where the rider starts.
- ✓ It ends near where the rider is going.
- ✓ It leaves inside the rider's time window.
Matches are scored on how close the route fits and how well the timing sits in the window, and the best fits surface first.

Fair to both sides, start to finish.
Pickup that makes sense
Riders can propose a specific pickup point. tag. checks the detour against the driver's route and keeps it small, so tagging along never hijacks the trip.
Everyone in one thread
The driver and confirmed riders share a message thread in the app. Coordinate the meet-up without giving out your number.
Both sides confirm
After the trip, driver and rider each confirm the ride happened. That mutual confirmation is what releases the gas money to the driver.
