Your data, plainly.

The short version

We collect what the service needs to pair rides and split costs, and nothing more. We don't sell your data, we don't run ads, and payment card numbers never touch our servers. You can delete your account, and your data with it, from inside the app.

1. What we collect

On this website: if you join the waitlist, your email address. That's it. The form is processed by Netlify, our website host. We don't use analytics trackers or advertising cookies on this site.

In the app, when it's available to you:

• Account: your name, your .edu email (used to verify you're a student), your campus, and a profile photo if you add one.
• Car details if you're a driver: year, make, and model, used to look up official fuel-economy data so trip costs are computed accurately.
• Trips and requests you post: origins, destinations, dates, times, seats, and any notes. Locations are the places you type in, not background tracking. The app does not track your location in the background.
• Messages you send to your trip's driver or riders.
• Ratings you give and receive after rides.
• Payment records: amounts, trip references, and payment status. Payments are processed by Stripe; your card number goes to Stripe directly and is never stored by tag.
• A push token if you turn on notifications, so we can deliver them.

2. What we use it for

• Running the service: matching trips with requests, computing cost splits, processing payments, and delivering messages and notifications.
• Verification: confirming your .edu email so the network stays students-only.
• Trust: showing profiles and ratings to people you may ride with.
• Support and safety: responding to reports and keeping the platform honest.

We don't use your data for advertising, and we don't sell it to anyone.

3. What other users can see

tag. is a social product, so some information is visible by design: your first name, photo, campus, ratings, and, if you're a driver, your car. Trips and requests you post appear on the feed for verified students. Your messages are visible only to the driver and confirmed riders of that trip. Your email address is never shown to other users.

4. Who we share it with

Only the services that run tag., and only what they need to do their job:

• Supabase hosts our database and authentication.
• Stripe processes payments and driver reimbursements.
• Netlify hosts this website and receives waitlist submissions.
• Apple delivers push notifications to your device.

Beyond that, we share data only if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of users when something serious is reported.

5. How long we keep it

As long as your account is active. Completed-trip records (splits, payments, ratings) are kept while you have an account because they're part of other users' history too, like the ratings they received. Waitlist emails are kept until launch outreach is done or you ask us to remove yours.

6. Deleting your data

Delete your account in the app: Profile, then Settings, then Delete account. That permanently removes your data and can't be undone. You can also email privacy@ride-tag.com from your account email and we'll handle it, including waitlist removals.

7. Security

Data moves over encrypted connections. Database access is locked down row by row, so users can only reach what they're allowed to see, and API credentials live server-side, not in the app. No system is perfectly secure, but we build like the data matters, because it does.

8. Your rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, at privacy@ride-tag.com. If you're a California resident, the CCPA gives you these rights formally, including the right not to be discriminated against for using them. We honor the same rights for everyone, regardless of state.

9. Not for children

tag. is for college students and isn't directed to children under 13. We don't knowingly collect data from them, and we'll delete it if we learn we have.

10. Changes

If this policy changes, the new version is posted here with a new effective date. If a change meaningfully reduces your privacy, we'll say so clearly rather than hoping you won't notice.
