Terms
The deal, in writing.
These terms govern the ride-tag.com website and the tag. iOS app. They're short because the product is simple. Questions go to rabee@ride-tag.com.

1. What tag. is
tag. is a platform where verified college students pair up on car trips and split the real costs of the drive. tag. provides the pairing, the cost math, the messaging, and the payment rails.
tag. is not a transportation company. We don't provide rides, employ or dispatch drivers, set routes or schedules, or supervise trips. Every trip is a private arrangement between students. Drivers post trips they were already planning to take; riders contribute to costs. Nobody may use tag. to drive for profit.
2. Who can use it
- You're a student with a valid .edu email address, verified through the app.
- You're at least 18 years old.
- You keep your account accurate and yours alone: real name, real photo, no shared or fake accounts.
3. Cost sharing and payments
- Trip costs are computed by the app from route distance, the driver's vehicle fuel economy, current gas prices, and tolls where they apply, then split across everyone in the car.
- Riders pay their computed share plus a flat $1.50 platform fee per ride. The fee is tag.'s only charge and its only revenue.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. A rider's payment is authorized when they join and released to reimburse the driver after both sides confirm the ride happened.
- Drivers receive cost reimbursement only, never more than the trip's computed cost. Soliciting or paying anything outside the app defeats the model and is against these terms.
- Cancel before departure and the rider gets a full refund. Cancellations after departure aren't refundable. If a driver cancels a trip, all riders are refunded in full.
4. Drivers' responsibilities
- Hold a valid driver's license and legally required insurance, and keep your car registered and road-safe.
- Drive lawfully and soberly. Obviously.
- Only post trips you genuinely intend to take, and honor the seats you've filled or cancel so riders are refunded.
- Confirm with your own insurer that carrying passengers on a cost-shared trip is covered under your policy.
5. Riders' responsibilities
- Pay through the app, show up on time at the agreed pickup, and treat the driver and their car with respect.
- Don't ask drivers to change destinations mid-trip or take detours they didn't agree to.
6. Conduct
No harassment, discrimination, or threats. No using tag. for commercial transportation, deliveries, or anything other than sharing a genuine trip. No scraping, reverse-engineering, or interfering with the service. We can remove content and suspend or terminate accounts that break these rules or damage the community's trust, and we will.
7. Safety, honestly stated
We verify student status, show real profiles and ratings, and hold payments until both sides confirm. We do not run driving-record or criminal background checks, inspect vehicles, or supervise trips. You decide who you ride with. Use the profiles, the ratings, and your judgment, and report anything wrong to support@ride-tag.com. In an emergency, call 911.
8. Your content
You own what you post: your profile, trips, requests, messages, and ratings. You give tag. a license to display it within the service so the product can work. We can remove content that violates these terms.
9. Disclaimers and liability
tag. is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent the law allows, tag. and its operator aren't liable for what happens on trips, for the conduct of users, or for indirect or consequential damages arising from the service. Where liability can't be excluded, it's capped at the greater of $50 or the platform fees you paid tag. in the twelve months before the claim. Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limits, so parts of this may not apply to you.
10. Ending things
You can delete your account any time in the app. We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. Sections that by their nature should survive (your content license, disclaimers, liability limits) survive termination.
11. Changes and governing law
If these terms change materially, we'll post the new version here with a new date and flag the change in the app. Continuing to use tag. after that means you accept the new terms. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California.
